Monsters was first released in June 2010. The film was written and directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able.

Monsters – Film Storyline

In the opening sequence, we learn that six years prior to the commencement of events in the film, NASA had discovered the possibility of alien life. They sent a probe to investigate, but it crashed in Central America on re-entry. Following the crash, new life forms began to appear and part of Mexico was closed off. This area became known as the ‘Infected Zone’ and American and Mexican military set up a perimeter to stop the spread of the aliens.

As the film begins the military are struggling to contain the threat and any breaches are dealt with by aerial attack and bombings, which are causing a large number of casualties amongst the local population. American journalist and photographer, Andrew Kaulder, is sticking close to the action, trying to get the perfect shot of the ‘monsters’ that will earn him a big bonus. He is none too happy when his employers call and tell him to drop everything in order to escort Samantha Wynden, the daughter of the boss, out of Mexico and back to American soil. When all other routes out of the country are cut off, Andrew and Samantha have no choice but to journey together through the ‘Infected Zone’ if they are to get back home.
